RAINFOREST

Why TreeSisters?

We decided to partner with them because we loved their mission;

To rapidly accelerate tropical reforestation by inspiring and channeling women's Nature-based feminine leadership into local and global action.

Their focus is on restoration at the grass roots level with a focus on women and tropical reforestation.

Why tree planting?

It has become normal to destroy our world.

Currently, trees around the world are being removed and damaged at an extraordinary rate. If we continue to live in this way then soon our forests will be gone and the ramifications of this are unthinkable. Trees and forest ecosystems provide so much; beyond sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere they provide a home for biodiversity, they preserve soil and help prevent water pollution.

According to the IPCC 2018 report, we have just 12 years to limit the impact of climate change. It has never been more important to unite for the planet, protect our forests and plant trees on behalf of life!

How will buying KIHT help?

For every sale we fund a tree we fund the planting of trees with TreeSisters to restore ecosystems and livelihoods whilst increasing protection against the extremes of climate change in multiple regions of the tropical forest belt.

TreeSisters do this in ways that recreate and restore natural forest ecosystems using indigenous species, fostering local knowledge and skills, and promoting women's participation.

They strive to do it intelligently, appropriately, respectfully and successfully.

Forests play a vital role in the hydrological cycles of our world, sequester the atmospheric carbon dioxide that is driving climate change and provide the most biodiverse regions on earth. When trees are removed, vibrant ecosystems are often overfarmed, eroded and rendered infertile in a cascade effect that is mirrored with social decline, grinding poverty and climate extremes.

Reforestation can rapidly reverse these trends, stabilizing and nourishing the soils, restoring watersheds, revitalizing dry springs and providing good quality water to large populations living downstream.

Where do they plant them?

Tree sisters are growing forest corridors to protect endangered species in Brazil, restoring mangrove and dry deciduous forests in Madagascar, replenishing the watershed of Mt Kenya, rescuing agricultural lands and restoring cloud forests in India, reforesting cleared and burnt lands in Nepal, and restoring highlands forest to protect critically endangered gorillas in Cameroon.
