Well Defined, Helping Women Make Money and Noise
Hi! Firstly, before we start, please can you intro yourself and tell us about what you do!
Hey, I’m Chelsea Cox, founder of Well Defined which is a business consultancy specialising in sales and events supporting women in business and female-led brands.
Q1. Thank you so much for being involved and sharing your expertise! We would love to know what led you to set up Well Defined?
I spent over a decade in corporate commercial management, following an unsuccessful management buyout, I made the decision to start a business that would support women in business as I noticed a gap in the market for sales skills.
Q2. For someone reading this who has never had business coaching, can you explain what it is and what it isn’t?
It is essentially a fresh pair of eyes on your business, looking at ways you can make money and help to solve the problems you face as well as support when the self-doubt creeps in! It isn’t getting someone else to run your business, you are still very much responsible for that.
Q3. Why did you decide to work with women only?
It was a very conscious decision, I felt it was where our skills would be most valuable, generally, women find the sales part of their businesses the hardest, there is a real unwillingness to discuss money, worth and fees so that’s where we come in!
Q4. Do you have common themes that come up in business coaching that most women can relate too? If so, what are they and how do you tackle these?
Yes, self-worth and not being honest about how much money they want to earn. We get them thinking about money in a different way, it’s essential to make your business run but we also get them to separate themselves personally from their business/brand as much as possible which I find helps.
Q5. You inspire women daily, you are their coach, cheerleader and support, how do you keep yourself motivated and hitting your own goals? (do you set goals?)
I have quite a solid 5-year plan in place so that motivates me to see how far I can take Well Defined, coming from a sales background you do find yourself being quite self-motivated.
Q6. When you feel stressed, overwhelmed or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?
Get up and go for a walk, switch my brain off, a change of scenery always helps.
Q7. What is the best business/ mindset book or resource you have read that you would recommend?
Vex King, Good Vibes, Good Life is one I recommend to all my clients, it focuses on positive mindset generally which is vital in business.
Q8. What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?
Counselling, this is something I used to laugh at when people mentioned it to me but I genuinely wouldn’t be the person I am today without it, I think everyone should have a counsellor.
Q9. What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learnt on your journey so far?
To know that you can literally do anything you set your mind to, I really doubted some of my skills at the beginning but I don’t do that anymore. If I need to do something that I haven’t done before, I do my research, give it a go and see where I end up
Q10. If you had a giant billboard that you could write anything on for everyone to see, what would it say?
YOU ARE ENOUGH.
