How to Wear Cycling Shorts

One of the biggest emerging trends of the moment!!! The 80’s is being re-lived and updated through the Athleisure movement! We have already talked about the hottest footwear trend of the year, and now we want to talk about cycling shorts!! Yes, they are back with a bang, along with the go-to accessory - a bum bag - thanks to Gucci.

So, now the next big question, how do we wear them and work them into our existing wardrobe?? Cycling shorts are not the easiest trend but follow our handy guide and you’ll be on your way to hopefully purchasing a pair ready to rock!

The first and easiest go-to cycling short look is definitely day wear, they fit perfectly if you want a casual and sporty feel.

Get your chunky trainers on, some cute little ankle socks and an oversized t-shirt. Accessorise the look with some sunnies, go small or extra large for these - slick looking. Either a cross body bag or a bum bag. The single colour look is chic by Alicia Roddy, or grunge it up with a statement t-shirt

If your not a big fan of oversized, but like the look - throw on a check shirt around your waist just to cinch you in a little and add an extra layer to your look

The weather is getting a little cooler, and cycling shorts are a great transition into autumn, so throw on a big baggy sweat - love how Alicia Roddy has styled her look here, keeping her colour tonal and simple, but still luxe feeling with her Prada crossbody bag.

Keep it tonal and cropped - but still loose - invest in a loose crop sweat - Love this style in tonal neutrals, with the statement bum bag.

This would not be an article about cycling shorts if we didn’t include some styling tips for the Kardashians! These babes have been rocking this look for a while courtesy of Yeezy.

We’ll start with Kylie - love the matching cycling shorts and crop top set, she’s totally rocking it - you could wear this day to day and at the gym - keeping it all one colour - black with the big sunnies.

CARMS London totally pulls this look off - all white, with a denim jacket thrown over the top. She’s glammed up the look with her accessories - thin gold chains and a cute Gucci bag.

Go 80’s or go home!!! In love with this look from Golden Barbie aka Jasmine Sanders - she’s gone full-on 80’s with her pinstripe set, oversized printed bum bag and white Fila trainers.

Kim again has gone for the single colour look - this is the latest Yeezy campaign - love it so much - totally casual, sporty and also chic.

Day to Night

Next is taking the cycling short from day to night. We again look to the Kardashians for this look.

Just add shoes - this could be day or evening - but just simply adding a heel can change the look of your outfit, keep them simple and tonal.

Love how Kim has styled this with an oversized denim jacket and stone knitted boots. The colours are all tonal and muted making it feel chic.

Out Out

Cycling shorts have even made it into the ultra glam arena! You can pull these looks off on a sat night in the club! Or like Kim, on the red carpet!

Oversized shirt or blazer - love this look - simple all black but stylish. Skinny strap shoes to add a feminine touch to the look. Or you could style with a simple mule as another option. But it is simple and chic.

Go full glam like Kylie did for her 21st with this encrusted look!

One of our total faves, is this look, styled out with a blazer, in all black, defo one we will be trying this season!

Key takeaways for pulling off this look :

Keep your colour tonal or all one colour if you're going for a set - it definitely makes it feel updated and also chic.

Accessorise - cross body bags/bum bags and simple jewellery make these looks.

Statement sunglasses - they just finish the look off!

Dad trainers - if you haven’t already get investing in this look! Have a read of our article to learn more!!

Tonal heels - keeping it simple colours, over the knee boots or barely there sandals
