This week marks the official start of spring. I know what your thinking…….really?? The weather has been super cold and even snowy! But no matter the cold I am definitely feeling a spring in my step at even the smallest hint of the sun!
This morning I set my alarm for 6 am excited to spend a very special spring morning at Cloud 23 in the Hilton Manchester.
They are launching Sunrise Yoga every Wednesday 7.30 - 9.00am and you even get breakfast!!!
I am not a morning person, but this I cannot miss!
I arrived at the Hilton a little before 7.30am, the morning sun was shining and the sky was really clear, feeling super lucky about the weather (it has been awful this week) We headed up to the 23rd floor of the building, meeting the yoga instructor in the lift.
The doors opened onto the most stunning view!!! Clear skies and view for miles! Wow! This really is going to be sunrise yoga at its best!
With yoga mats already set up in front of the windows looking out to the stunning views, we all sat down to start what can only be described as one of the best yoga sessions of my life!!!
Warming up slowly with a meditation (eyes open) so you can take in the stunning views, and then working our way up to vinyasa flows and warrior poses - all the while looking out as planes marked the skies and traffic streamed by below. I’ve never experienced anything quite so relaxing and stunning!
The yoga is great for any level, its a go at your own pace, perfect for first thing in the morning, and also the view is just deliciously distracting (especially when trying to balance!!).
Once we had worked up a bit of a sweat we cooled down with some great stretches focusing on hamstrings and lower back, perfect for me as I am so stiff! Then we finished with a lovely relaxing meditation.
I finished the class feeling refreshed and invigorated! It was incredible! What a way to start a Tuesday morning, you just can’t beat it! Sunrise Yoga is definitely my favourite type of Yoga!
Once we had all stopped looking at the view, and taking pictures, we all made our way over to the high tables full of a gorgeous selection of fresh fruits, teas, coffee, granola and yoghurt. The perfect accompaniment for the session, we all got chatting, mainly about the view and how amazing we all felt, whilst making our way through the platters of fruits. By this time it was only 8.30, so great for the people who had to dash off to work for 9. I hung around and enjoyed my coffee whilst chatting to the instructor all about his training in India, which sounds like an incredible experience.
Filled up on fruit and coffee I headed back down in the lift, ready to take on the day with a big spring in my step!
This is without a doubt one of the best ways I have started my day. I cannot wait to go back!!
If you are interested in trying out Sunrise Yoga, they are launching on the 21st March, at 7:30am and will be every Wednesday. Just to note the yoga finishes about 8.30am so it gives you time to get to work for 9am.
